What to Know About the Tesla Cybertruck Explosion at Trump Hotel

Facts Behind the Tesla Cybertruck Explosion at Trump Hotel

A Tesla Cybertruck exploded outside the Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas on January 1. One person died, and seven others were injured. Authorities identified the driver as Matthew Alan Livelsberger, 37. DNA and tattoos confirmed his identity.

Livelsberger, a Bronze Star recipient and Green Beret, set off the explosion with fireworks, gas tanks, and camping fuel. He controlled the device himself and died in the blast. His writings, found on his cellphone, revealed political grievances. He saw the tesla explosion as a “wake-up call” for Americans.

Two letters explained his motives. One denied terrorist intent, claiming Americans respond only to “spectacles and violence.” Livelsberger expressed grief for fallen comrades and guilt over lives lost. He described the U.S. as “terminally ill and collapsing.” The second letter called for removing Democrats from office, suggesting forceful measures.

Sheriff Dori Koren and FBI Special Agent Spencer Evans called the Tesla Cybertruck Explosion a tragic suicide by a combat veteran with PTSD. Livelsberger had kept a 10-day journal documenting firearms and equipment purchases before the incident.

Family members described him as a patriot who admired Donald Trump, Elon Musk, and also Robert F. Kennedy Jr. His writings supported Trump’s military policies.

The Tesla cybertruck explosion also came days after a deadly attack in New Orleans, where a former soldier killed 14 people. Despite similarities, no connection was found between the two events. Investigations continue, with President Biden receiving updates.
