Trump’s spokesperson, Steven Cheung, declared the delay a victory. He accused prosecutors of political bias and celebrated the pause in proceedings.
A jury convicted Trump in May on 34 felony counts for falsifying business records. The charges relate to a hush money payment to Stormy Daniels before the 2016 election. Trump denies the accusations and calls the case politically motivated.
Trump also faces charges in Georgia for allegedly trying to overturn the 2020 election. That case is paused while his lawyers challenge the prosecutor’s involvement.
