Trump confirmed on Monday that his eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., will visit Greenland. This aligns with the president-elect’s interest in the U.S. potentially taking control of the Danish autonomous territory.
Donald Trump Jr., in an interview with Fox News, expressed his excitement about the trip, calling Greenland a fascinating destination for an outdoorsman like himself.
This visit follows Trump’s renewed calls to purchase Greenland, a proposal he first raised during his initial term. Last month, he emphasized the island’s strategic value, describing its acquisition as “an absolute necessity” for the U.S.
Greenland’s Prime Minister Múte Egede has dismissed the idea, declaring, “The territory is not for sale and will never be for sale,” according to Reuters.
Trump has also proposed other territorial expansions. Recently, he suggested U.S. control over the Panama Canal. This notion rejected by Panamanian President José Raúl Mulino, who reaffirmed the nation’s sovereignty. Additionally, Trump has hinted at annexing Canada, envisioning it as the 51st U.S. state.
The events shows Trump’s ongoing interest in expanding U.S. territory, a recurring theme in his administration’s agenda.
