Trans Nzoia Schools Shine in Rift Valley Term Two Games

St Joseph Boys High School and St Joseph Girls High School from Trans Nzoia County excel in the Rift Valley Secondary Schools Term Two games. Both also qualified for the football semi-finals. The tournament, now in its third day, is taking place in Bomet County.

St Joseph Boys, secured a 2-0 victory over Ololulunga Boys High School from Narok County in an exciting match at Silibwet Stadium. Considering that they are newcomers to the competition. The school’s chief principal, Cosmas Nabungolo, also watched from the stands alongside fans and officials as the team advanced to the semi-finals. With goals from Inisitin Simiyu and Samuel Kiptoo. They will now compete against Ortum Boys High School from West Pokot. They defeated also Tambach High School of Elgeyo Marakwet 2-0.

In another semi-final match, Kaplong Boys High School from Bomet was set to play against Laiser Hill Academy. Kaplong won 4-3 on penalties against Elgeyo-Markwet Kerio Boys after a 1-1 draw. Laiser Hill advanced after a 2-1 win over Arnesen Boys High School. The semi-final matches were scheduled to start at press time.

St. Joseph Girls and Trinity Mission Girls

In the girls’ football category, St Joseph Girls High School and Trinity Mission Girls School from Gilgil, both also secured semi-final spots. All are Nakuru County. St Joseph Girls dominated Mogotio Girls High School with a 9-0 victory at Silibwet Stadium. Trinity Mission Girls defeated Olmelil Secondary School from Narok County 2-0 at St Michael playground in the quarterfinals. This was by Ivonne Sekila scoring both goals.

The two teams will face each other in the final. Archbishop Josam Kariuki, director of Trinity Mission Girls School, expressed optimism about reaching the final. He said, “We hope for the best this time after our elimination in the semi-final stage of last year’s competition in Laikipia.”
