Thus citing prior tensions between Trump and Iran without offering concrete proof.
The Republican’s announcement from the campaign trail came soon after Politico, a news website, revealed that it had started receiving emails in July from an unidentified source. Additionally, they provided real papers from within Trump’s team, including one concerning running mate JD Vance’s “potential vulnerabilities.”
Besides, a spokesman for the Trump campaign, Steven Cheung, stated in a statement that “these documents were obtained illegally from foreign sources hostile to the United States. And intended to interfere with the 2024 election and sow chaos throughout our Democratic process.”
What was the purpose of hacking?
Trump announced late on Saturday night on his Truth Social app. He stated that Microsoft (MSFT.O) had just notified the campaign that one of its websites hacked by Iran. Citing Iran as the source of the problem, he said that they are “only able to get publicly available information.” He didn’t go into any more detail about the hack. The Trump campaign cited a study released on Friday by Microsoft researchers.
