MP Silvanus Osoro of South Mugirango ran into a hostile mob when he seemed to imply that Gen Z ought to show President William Ruto some deference given his social standing.
Rejecting young Kenyans for their allegedly unrestrained attitude toward the President, —a devoted Ruto ally—called for’morality’ when it comes to expressing oneself on the President on his X account.

The politician argued that such frivolous behaviour was no less distinct from the reasons they were fighting against, but he asked what would make a 20-year-old approach the president like his own agemate.

“Morality education ought to receive more attention in our families, churches, and schools. Even though you don’t agree with the President, shouldn’t you at least address him by title? Okay, so at twenty, we’re going to be a kid now? Does this vary from what you say you’re fighting against?” he wrote.

Nevertheless, Kenyans mocked and jeered at his laments, with many scolding him and affirming their disrespectful attitude toward the President.

Social media users responds to Osoro

Osoro may have been targeting activist Kasmuel Mcoure with his tweet, but Mcoure responded as well, reminding the lawmaker that common Kenyans should be treated with the same dignity as their leaders.

“Is that what you think? Muwa mnatuheshimu kutuua mkiiba pesa yetu? Msisahau wajumbe tu nyinyi ni. Ghasia. He penned.

Another person added, “These kids pick up knowledge from you. What lessons are you teaching your children when you quarrel and mistreat one other in front of them during campaigns? They’re picking up tips from the greatest…Mujiangalie prior to assigning blame.

Charity Nzomo responded, saying, “Take a look at the America you want to compare yourself to. Even well-known TV hosts regularly make fun of President Biden. Every day, Trump receives insults on prime-time television. We do not live in the 1800s, and Ruto is not a monarch! Leave the kitchen if the heat is too intense.”

Other who answered thoughtfully reminded the MP of the value of respect and said that the President would receive a great deal of it if he showed respect to his fellow citizens.

Does respect comes when you pillage and steal? Do you respect us when you pass laws that punish us? Do you respect us, impoverished Kenyans, when you overtax us?

“He is here till 2027,” he shot back. Make a note of this; don’t waste time or breath. “Mkadhani, you can push anything with Tumewaruhusu sana.”Silvanus Osoro, the MP for South Mugirango,

Fearless Kenyans have confronted the President face-to-face during the intense anti-government protests. Several have called him names, and some have even started singing songs that are a direct insult to the presidency. Also read
