Safaricom Support: Helping Victims of Finance Bill Protest Demo

Safaricom, Kenya’s top telecom company, is stepping up with Sh50 million to help people affected by recent protests. This is over the delayed Finance Bill 2024. They’re focusing on those hurt during the demonstrations.

They’ve earmarked Sh10 million for the hospital’s Disaster Response Centre to boost medical support for injured protesters. Another Sh5 million will directly aid those hospitalized, ensuring they get the care they need.

To help people stay connected, Safaricom will provide Sh5 million for assistive devices, smartphones, and airtime. This is for those who lost their phones during the protests. They’re also allocating Sh12.5 million for similar efforts across Kenya, extending their support beyond the protest areas.
