Paris Olympics Moraa and her 800m fellow citizens fireworks. Kenya’s 800m competitors, both male and female, are working tirelessly to make a lasting impression on the world stage with just 14 days to go until the highly anticipated Olympic Games in Paris, France.
Leading the women’s squad, Mary Moraa, the world 800m champion. She will work alongside Vivian Chebet and Lilian Odira to help Kenya win handily.

Emmanuel Wanyonyi, who won the silver medal in the world, Wycliffe Kinyamal, and Koitatoi Kidali are the members of the men’s squad. They qualified for the summer games in that order at the June trials.
They have promised to repeat the nation’s triumphs from the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Whereby former champions Pamela Jelimo and Wilfred Bungei won the two-lap event.
The team’s ability to succeed has been expressed by the always cheerful Moraa. Moraa who said that their current preparations are quite promising.

“As a squad, we have been training hard. In order to make it to the final and win medals, we are asking God for strength. I’m feeling eager to see Paris. The goal has been to outperform the last edition with three years of preparation and effort,” stated Moraa.
Simultaneously, Moraa has voiced her disappointment at not being able to compete for the gold against the current American champion. Additionally, Athing Mu, who broke during the trials last month, ending her hopes of defending her championship.
After recording a time of 1:55.21 at the most recent Olympic edition in Tokyo, Mu became the youngest woman to hold an Olympic title in an individual track and field event. However, she will not be competing in the Paris festival.
“To me, his absence is a huge blow. She is a formidable rival, so I was excited to battle her since I knew that having her there would have forced us to put in more effort and perhaps record faster timings,” she remarked.
Moraa’s win in Budapest
Moraa defeated Mu in the World Championships in Budapest, Hungary, last year, winning in 1:56.03. However, expressing compassion for the athlete who was born in Sudan, Moraa maintains that there is still unresolved business between them. “I prefer it when there is fierce rivalry. It forces me to go beyond what I can do,” she remarked.
