Men’s Olympic basketball format
The twelve teams competing in the men’s basketball tournament will be split into three groups of four teams each.
Two best third-placed teams and the top two teams from each group advance to the next round. Next, a draw held to decide the quarterfinal pairings.
Moving on to the semi-finals are the quarterfinal winners. The gold medal match features the semi-final winners, while the bronze medal match features the losers.
The front-runners for the gold
The Americans are overwhelming favourites in Paris due to their dominance in men’s basketball at the Olympics.
Out of a potential 20 gold medals, Team USA has won a record 16 of them, including first place in the last four Summer Games.
Their northern neighbours, Canada, who are home to the all-star NBA guard duo of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Jamal Murray, should pose a threat to them.
Among the competitors are host country France, with a team that includes the incredible NBA Rookie of the Year Victor Wembanyama, as well as Germany, the 2023 FIBA World Cup winners.

Basketball players qualified in the Olympics
There’s little doubt that the basketball talent competing in Paris 2024 is the best ever, ranging from the iconic LeBron James to the up-and-coming Wembanyama.
The 39-year-old four-time NBA champion James will represent Team USA in the Olympics for the first time since London 2012, while his teammate Stephen Curry, the 36-year-old all-time leader in three-point field goals, will be making his first Olympic appearance.
Wembanyama, a 20-year-old from France, is anticipated to produce a breakthrough performance in front of his home supporters.
With a wingspan of an astounding 2.44 meters (8 feet) and a height of 2.24 meters (7 feet, 4 inches), the Frenchman has already proven himself to be a once-in-a-generation talent in just his first NBA season.
Giannis Antetokounmpo, the 2008 NBA MVP who assisted Greece in qualifying for the Olympics, also be highlighted. This is his first Olympic campaign since 2008.
