As per the opposition MPs’ main demand, they have refuted Maduro’s assertion that he won the vote on Sunday. Maduro informed reporters on Wednesday that the ruling party prepared to display the entirety of the election tally sheets.
Besides, Maduro requested an audit of the election be carried out by the nation’s Supreme Court.
Foreign leaders have urged the president of Venezuela, who took office in 2013 following the passing of his mentor Hugo Chavez, to present a complete accounting of the vote. The president has been the target of intense demonstrations over the election results.
Since assuming office in 2022, Colombia’s President Gustavo Petro has sought to strengthen relations with Venezuela. He stated that the Venezuelan government ought to “allow the elections to end in peace, allowing a transparent vote count… and professional international supervision.”
