Donald Trump appoints Lee Zeldin to lead the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). He says Zeldin is familiar to America First policies and also trusts him to help American business interests while upholding clean air and water standards.
Zeldin represented New York’s 1st Congressional District from 2015 to 2023. Lee Zeldin earned respect for his strong values. He showed his excitement for this role, planning to increase American energy independence and boost the auto industry. He also plans to cut regulatory barriers that restrict business growth. “Together, we will restore American energy dominance,” Zeldin said. He hopes to make the U.S. a leader in artificial intelligence and also protect environmental health.
Zeldin became New York’s youngest attorney at 23, beginning his career in public service. He served as a military intelligence officer, prosecutor, and magistrate in the millitary. He deployed to Iraq with the 82nd Airborne Division during Operation Iraqi Freedom and currently serves as a lieutenant colonel in the Army Reserve.
Zeldin also served in the New York State Senate from 2010 to 2014 before joining Congress. Here, he tackled several national and international issues as a member of the House Foreign Affairs and Financial Services committees. Zeldin’s experiences equips him to lead the EPA with confidence.
