Senator Karen Nyamu faces a court-ordered auction over alleged rent arrears of Sh1.25 million. Police will join Fantasy Auctioneers at her Runda home to collect household items.
This is an order to Runda police by a Nairobi court to help the auctioneers in accessing Nyamu’s residence at Graceville Villas.
Previous week, Milimani Senior Principal Magistrate A.H. Nyoike issued the directive ,ordering the Runda police commander to lead the operation.
Senator Nyamu denies the allegations, saying they are without merit. She also claims she agreed with the landlord to purchase the house, converting part of her rent payments into a deposit. “The auctioneer’s actions are wrong. I will take this matter to court,” she said, expressing her shock at the situation.
Court documents show Runda police commander Rose Ndolo sought guidance from her Gigiri superiors after receiving the court order on November 13.
The verified order confirms that Fantasy Auctioneers, hired by landlord James Gichuru Kirubi, require police support. This includes an inspector, a corporal, and two constables. Initially, the rent dispute in November 2023 involved a claim of Sh385,000.
Police will ensure law and order during the item recovery. The court directed the Runda police commander and their officers to oversee a peaceful execution of the order.
