Israeli airstrikes and military operations in Gaza have caused significant loss of life. At least 40 Palestinians died, including many from the Nuseirat refugee camp. This comes after Israeli tanks withdrawing from parts of the camp. Medics recovered 19 bodies from northern Nuseirat.
Israeli tanks entered northern and western Nuseirat on Thursday but withdrew from the northern areas by Friday. The Palestinian Civil Emergency Service said rescue teams could not reach trapped residents. After the tanks pulled back, many Palestinians returned to check the damage to their homes.
On Friday, an Israeli airstrike targeted a house in Beit Lahiya, killing at least 10 people. Other casualties were reported across Gaza. The military did not release new statements that day, but it had previously confirmed that its forces continued operations targeting “terrorist” sites.
On Friday, an Israeli drone strike killed Ahmed Al-Kahlout, the head of the ICU at Kamal Adwan Hospital in Beit Lahiya. The Israeli military said it was unaware of the strike at that time or location. Kamal Adwan Hospital, along with two other medical facilities, struggles to operate due to severe shortages of supplies. Most of the hospital staff have been detained or expelled by Israeli forces. The military stated its operations aim to prevent Hamas from regrouping and launching attacks.
Residents in the affected areas claim the Israeli military is attempting to depopulate Beit Lahiya, Beit Hanoun, and Jabalia. Meanwhile, authorities released around 30 Palestinians detained during the offensive. These detainees went to a hospital in southern Gaza for medical checkups. Some reported mistreatment during their detention, but Israel denies the allegations.
