In Khan Younis, southern Gaza, Israel has intensified its evacuation orders. This comes by compelling tens of thousands of Palestinians to flee during the night amid ongoing tank shelling. The Israel military stated that the operation aimed at targeting Hamas militants. The ones who were allegedly using the area to carry out attacks and launch rockets.
On Saturday, an Israel airstrike struck a school in Gaza City where displaced Palestinians had sought refuge. Resulting in at least 90 deaths. This incident has sparked significant international criticism. The Israeli military asserted that the strike targeted a Hamas and Islamic Jihad command post, killing 19 militants. However, both groups have denied these claims, labeling them as baseless.
Philippe Lazzarini, the head of the United Nations agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA), highlighted the dire situation. Noting that many evacuees have nowhere to go. Some are able to bring only their children or a small bag of belongings as they head to overcrowded shelters, which are already struggling to accommodate the influx of families. The Israeli military reported that in the last 24 hours, they targeted approximately 30 Hamas military sites, including missile launch positions, military structures, and weapons storage facilities.
