The development of new special missiles, according to Tasnim news, linked to the IRGC were announced by Iran . They also unveiled a new underground missile storage facility.
The base was involved in Iran’s operations against Israel in October and April, Mehr News reports. During a Friday event in Abadan, Salami confirmed that the IRGC Aerospace Force is developing new missile technology.
Iranian state TV IRIB aired video showing IRGC Commander Major General Hossein Salami and Brigadier General Amir Ali Hajizadeh touring the site. Hajizadeh called the facility a “dormant volcano.”
General Ali Mohammad Naeini stated that Iran will hold military drills and war games later this month. The exercises will showcase “missile and drone cities,” including an underground missile facility and a southern base for vessels.
Iranian Basij forces conducted a large-scale exercise in Tehran, involving 110,000 members. The Iranian Armed Forces have also held several other military drills recently.
Despite challenges, such as attacks on Iranian-backed forces in Lebanon, Gaza, and Yemen, and the fall of Syria’s Bashar al-Assad regime, Iran seeks to assert its strength in the region. Salami emphasized that Iran’s deterrence strategy is not based on the actions of other nations.
In October, Israel struck Iranian missile sites and aerial defense systems in Iran. These strikes were a response to earlier Iranian missile attacks on Israel. Iran condemned the strikes as a violation of international law, asserting its right to defend itself.
With US President-elect Donald Trump about to take office, the US remains optimistic about negotiating a ceasefire deal between Israel and Hamas. The US hopes to finalize the agreement before Trump’s inauguration. (CNN)
