Only 6 days remain until the 2024 U.S. presidential election. Kamala Harris and Donald Trump are in a tight race in Arizona and Nevada, two crucial battlegrounds. CNN’s latest polls by SSRS show Harris with a slight 1% lead in Arizona. Trump, meanwhile, has a 1% edge in Nevada. Both margins fall within the polls’ error range.
Harris has recently gained ground in Arizona. She is favored by Democratic groups, especially women, Latino voters, and younger voters. Arizona women favor her by 16 points, while men lean toward Trump by 14 points. Independent voters are split, though Harris has gained Arizona support since August.
Voter decisions are largely set. Around 92% of voters in both states have made up their minds. Each candidate holds strengths in different areas. Trump leads on immigration, the economy, and foreign policy. Harris has an edge on abortion rights and protecting democracy. In Nevada, Harris also leads with young voters and holds a slight edge with women.
Confidence in ballot accuracy has risen, particularly among Republican-leaning voters. However, Republicans still trust the process less than Democrats. About 80% of Nevada voters and 75% of Arizona voters feel somewhat confident about ballot accuracy.
With few voters undecided, the race may hinge on slight shifts in key groups. Polls from October 21-26 included likely voters in Arizona and Nevada. The margin of error is ±4.4% in Arizona and ±4.6% in Nevada. (CNN)
