Green Army Team Launches Nightly Clean-Up in Nairobi CBD

On Monday night, the Green Army team cleaned up Nairobi’s central business district (CBD). The goal was to improve sanitation and create a cleaner, healthier environment in Nairobi City County.

Chief of Staff David Njoroge emphasized the need for consistent cleaning. “Cleaning shouldn’t be a one-day task. Daily efforts are crucial for maintaining cleanliness,” he said.

The team worked hard, collecting garbage, unclogging drains, and also sweeping the streets. Green Nairobi County Executive Committee Member Maureen Njeri also urged the team to take responsibility for environmental care. “This must be a routine. Together, we can make Nairobi clean and green,” she said.

The team used wheelbarrows, shovels, and protective gear, including gloves and also boots. Trucks and compactors were used to transport the waste.

Chief Officer for Environment Geoffrey Mosiria highlighted the importance of teamwork in keeping the city clean. “Cleaning requires collective effort.

The clean-up exercise is part of a larger plan to extend similar efforts to other areas of Nairobi, also showing the county’s commitment to a greener and cleaner environment.
