Germany has denied a labor agreement with Kenya to bring in 250,000 workers. This is according to the Federal Ministry of Interior and Communities in Germany.

This comes following a BBC article claiming that thousands of Kenyans will have job possibilities as a result of the transaction.

Germany’s Interior Ministry denies the story, stating that all candidates will go through a stringent selection process.  And that the agreement reached with Kenya does not indicate the number of workers scheduled to travel.

“This information is false. There are no restrictions or caps on the number of skilled workers from Kenya who will be able to find employment in Germany under the terms of the agreement. The German Skilled Immigration Act’s stringent requirements must be met by all candidates,” the Ministry stated on X.

As of the time of publishing, the news had sparked a furious outcry among German citizens who mocked the arrival of migrant laborers.

On Friday, Kenya and Germany inked an agreement to exchange labor, skills, and movement. Germany has denied a labour agreement with Kenya to bring in 250,000 workers.

About labor mobility, apprenticeships, student training, labor market demands, employment, employee welfare, and the readmission. But President William Ruto has made it clear that labor markets in Germany and Kenya can both be important engines of economic expansion.

Ruto emphasized that Kenya will not exploit its labor force while highlighting the country’s openness to share its human capital. Ruto also joined labor force at a meeting with Kenyans living in Germany on Saturday.

Kenya is very grateful for the assistance provided by the German government. We are well aware of both the need for skilled labor in Germany and the supply of talented and qualified labor in Kenya,” the speaker stated.

According to Germany’s Interior Ministry, they are in private talks and negotiations to create collaborations with other nations in the field of migration.

Georgia, Moldova, Ghana, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Colombia, Morocco, and the Philippines are among them. Germany has denied a labour agreement with Kenya to bring in 250,000 workers.
