Education Ministry Confirms Timely Release of 2024 KCSE Results

The Education Ministry assured the public of the timely 2024 Form Four exam results. Principal Secretary Belio Kipsang confirmed the release would follow the 2023 timeline. Speaking in Mombasa, he dismissed delay claims and emphasized Knec’s focus on accuracy and fairness.

Knec has released results in January for two years. Dr. Kipsang explained this approach addresses concerns about rushing. He noted that the absence of KCPE this year might have caused confusion. “We will release the results within 10 days,” he said.

The 2024 KCSE had the highest number of candidates in its history. A Knec source linked the large candidate pool to longer analysis times. Knec is also finalizing KPSEA results for Grade 6 learners joining junior school in January 2025.

Concerns over malpractices led Knec to review KCSE results carefully. Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba called the issues minimal, but Knec is addressing all cases thoroughly. Dr. Kipsang assured parents and teachers of result integrity, citing improved systems and sufficient marking time.

Education stakeholders urged fairness in marking. The Kenya Secondary Schools Heads Association (Kessha) proposed reforms to reduce manipulation pressure. They recommended teacher promotions focus on holistic student development instead of performance metrics.

Since 2016, Knec has aimed to release results promptly. Reforms have improved transparency and fairness in the examination process.
