Drone Strike Hits Gaza Hospital, Injures Chief and Kills 11

A drone strike struck Kamal Adwan Hospital in Gaza overnight, severely injuring the hospital’s chief, Hossam Abu Safiya. The attack took place in Beit Lahia, northern Gaza, where the hospital remains one of the few still functioning.

Abu Safiya suffered metal fragment wounds to his back and thigh. He lost significant blood but is now stable. The drone strike targeted the hospital complex, which has faced repeated attacks during the ongoing conflict.

This attack follows Israeli airstrikes in Gaza, which began after Hamas launched a surprise assault on Israel on October 7, 2023. Israel’s military claims Hamas hides its operations in hospitals, but medical workers deny this.

The World Health Organization raised serious concerns about the safety of 80 patients at Kamal Adwan Hospital, including eight in the ICU.

The drone strike is part of a broader escalation. Israel has carried out air and ground operations in Gaza, focusing on areas like Jabalia and Beit Lahia.

Gaza’s civil defense reported 11 deaths from Israeli raids, including children. The airstrikes targeted Al-Bureij and Al-Maghazi refugee camps in central Gaza. Artillery fire also hit Beit Lahia and Al-Mawasi in southern Gaza.

Rania Abu Jazar, a resident, described her fear as she fled her makeshift shelter after intense fire.
