Efforts to establish a ceasefire have stagnated. Both Hamas and Israeli refuse to negotiate. Qatar, Egypt, and the U.S. are trying to mediate but will pause until both sides show readiness to talk. The conflict, sparked by Hamas’s October 7 attack on Israeli communities, has caused widespread casualties and severe destruction in Gaza.
