President Joe Biden condemned the deadly truck attack in New Orleans as “despicable” during a national address from Camp David. Shamsud-Din Jabbar, the suspect, drove a truck with an ISIS flag into a crowd, killing 15 and injuring dozens. Police killed Jabbar in a shootout.
Biden expressed solidarity with the victims and their families, saying, “I grieve with you. Our nation grieves with you.” He pledged federal support for the investigation and recovery efforts.
The FBI revealed that Jabbar posted videos hours before the attack, expressing ISIS allegiance and a desire to kill. Biden urged patience, stating the investigation remains active and cautioned against jumping to conclusions.
Biden praised New Orleans’ resilience, saying, “The spirit of our New Orleans will never be defeated. It will always shine forth.” He thanked first responders and law enforcement for their swift actions.
The attack prompted also increased security in the city, which delayed the Sugar Bowl college football game. Federal and local authorities are coordinating to ensure safety for upcoming events like the Super Bowl and Mardi Gras.
Biden also addressed an explosion in Las Vegas, where a Tesla Cybertruck exploded outside the Trump International Hotel. Authorities are also investigating it as a possible terrorist attack. While no connection to the New Orleans attack has been confirmed, Biden assured the public that both incidents are under investigation.
Biden concluded by reaffirming his commitment to using all resources to protect public safety and uncover the details behind the tragic events. (Courtesy of NBC News)
